CS360 WEEK-13 PRIMETIME PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Long Beach senior 'keeper Kaitlyn Gustaves

Long Beach State senior goalkeeper and hometown product Kaitlyn Gustaves – who logged 99-plus shutout minutes in a tension-packed upset victory at Pepperdine – rose to the big-game challenge during the first round of the NCAAs and leads the way among the latest Primetime Performers of the Week for Division I women's soccer, as selected byCollegeSoccer360.com for games during the weekend of Nov. 11-13. Gustaves (pictured, at right), the week-13 CS360 Primetime Player of the Week, is joined by 12 other players receiving the postseason Primetime Performer designation (all 13 listed below, with player info. and action photos; headshots located in right-sidebar).

Gustaves saved all 12 shots she faced leading up to the wild finish at Pepperdine, with LBSU's Natalie Link scoring her 16th goal of the season in the closing moments of the first overtime (99:47). The career-best save performance from Gustaves made Link's heroics possible, as Long Beach edged a Pepperdine squad that had suffered only one loss during the regular season and was one of four #3 national seeds in the 2011 NCAA field. The Waves placed 12 of their 16 shots on-target but were unable to solve Gustaves, who extended her shutout streak to 297 minutes entering a second-round matchup vs. Miami (at nearby UCLA).

Washington State senior defender Ali Fenter (Spokane, Wash.) ... Louisville sophomore defender Chelsea Hunter (Novi, Mich.) ... San Diego senior forward Stephanie Ochs (San Diego, Calif.) ... Kansas sophomore forward Christabel Oduro(Brampton, Ontario) ... Illinois junior forward Niki Read (Lake Orion, Mich.) ... and Texas A&M junior midfielder Beth West (Centennial, Colo.).
Seven of the players listed above – Gustaves, Cameron, Comeau, Conheeney, DeYoung, Fenter and Ochs – helped their teams advance from the first round while playing on the road.
The 13 honorees include four forwards, two midfielders, four defenders and three goalkeepers ... four seniors, four juniors, a pair of sophomores and three freshmen (who rose to the occasion in their NCAA debuts). Three of the Primetime Performers hail from north of the border in Ontatio, with the other 10 honorees including three from hometowns in California, a pair of Michigan natives, and one each from Colorado, New Jersey, North Carolina, Utah and Washington.

... Selection for the Division I women's CS360 weekly awards is based on any/all of the following "primetime" criteria (i.e. not solely based on raw stats):
• Must have performed at a high level in a game that is key to the team's postseason qualification/participation.
• In general, preference is given based on the quality of the opponent, contribution to team success and situational factors involved in the player's accomplishments.
• Exhibited strong leadership and/or involved in clutch performances, such as gamewinning goals, noteworthy comebacks, late scores, momentum-shifting play, all-around performance, team spirit, etc.
• Overcame adversity or extreme circumstances (for the team and/or individual).
• Record-setting and historic accomplishments, on a national level.
• Bonus consideration is given for key performances away from team's home field and/or against a traditional rival.

TAYLOR COMEAU

Assigned with marking Santa Clara's top scorer Julie Johnson and responded with stellar effort, as Bears edged their Bay-area rival in marathon battle (1-1; 4-3 PKs); logged 106 of the 110 minutes while holding Johnston to one shot, which was off-target (Johnston, who had 2G earlier this season vs. Cal, played the full 110' in the NCAA matchup); converted midfielder who has logged 16 starts this season on the back line

KELLEY CONHEENEY

Three-time CS360 Primetime Performer during her career, after scoring lone goal and playing strong all-around game in NCAA road win over BIG EAST champion West Virginia (1-0); scored VT's first 1st-half goal since Oct. 13, courtesy of Anna Lumpkin's chip over the defense (chested ball to set up linedrive shot into right side of goal); gave WVU its first deficit in five weeks (Oct. 2) and was scoring threat throughout tightly-fought game; her team-best 11 goals this season include five gamewinners (tied for most in ACC; her 13 career GWGs are a VT record)
