NEBRASKA GOALKEEPER EMMA STEVENS CS360 PRIMETIME PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Fifth-year senior/grad. student one of 17 on expanded week-9 Primetime Performers Honor Roll for Oct. 14-20.

Emma Stevens A250 ptp

Nebraska fifth-year senior goalkeeper Emma Stevens (Corona, Calif.) – after making six saves in both games of a high-pressure roadtrip at Wisconsin (2-1, on last-second OT goal) and Minnesota (1-0) – is the CS360 National Primetime Player of the Week (Oct. 14-20) for Division I women's soccer, as selected by CollegeSoccer360.com. Stevens is joined by 16 others in comprising the week-9 Primetime Performers Weekly Honor Roll (listed below), with the number of honorees a few higher than usual due to numerous key scenarios playing out during the past week in various conference races.

(note – action photos of all honorees have been added below)

STEVENS (pictured at right) continued her stellar season and career during the important road trip, stopping 12-of-13 shots on goal spanning 200 pressure-packed minutes, during which she defensed 45 total shots (25 by cs360 #26 Wisconsin) and 16 corner kicks (nine at cs360 #35 Minnesota). The only goal Stevens allowed during the weekend came on a tough-to-stop header redirection sequence – and the score was tied for more than half (109) of the weekend's 200 total minutes, with the Huskers never enjoying a two-goal cushion over the course of the roadtrip.

Stevens' aggressive play and strong leadership has helped the Huskers win all five of their Big Ten Conference road games this season, with Nebraska currently sitting atop the league standings at 7-1-0 (12-3-1 overall). The Huskers – who for many years were a mainstay in the national postseason – are seeking to qualify for the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2005 (which was the program's 10th straight NCAA trip).

Goalkeepers have received the top CS360 Primetime honor for each of the past three weeks (also Minnesota freshman Tarah Hobbs for week-7, followed by UCLA junior Katelyn Rowland a week ago). Players who reside in the defensive third often are overlooked on various conference and weekly awards – but the 17 players on the CS360 week-9 Primetime Performers Honor Roll include four defenders, Florida defensive midfielder Lauren Smith, Penn State freshman Brittany Basinger (who normally plays on the back line but shifted to midfield for last week's games), and six different goalkeepers.

Headshots of all week-9 Honor Roll members are included in right the sidebar (action shots of each have been added below, with brief text summaries also to be added for each honoree).

... Selection for the CS360 weekly awards is based on any/all of the following "primetime" criteria (i.e. not solely based on raw stats):

• Performed at a high level in a game that could be key to the team's postseason qualification, typically in a game involving a top-50 team from the CS360 Composite National Rankings (or in a game involving a conference favorite/leader from a league not represented in the CS360 top-50).
• In general, preference is given based on the quality of the opponent, contribution to team success and other situational factors involved in the player's accomplishments.
• Exhibited strong leadership and/or involved in clutch performances, such as gamewinning goals, noteworthy comebacks, late scores, momentum-shifting play, all-around performance/consistency, filling role/gameplan, team spirit, etc.
• Overcame adversity or extreme circumstances (for the team and/or individual).
• Bonus consideration is given for key performances away from team's home field and/or against a traditional rival.
• (Note that more players from conferences outside the CS360 top-50 will be honored later in the season, as league races heat up and individual results have greater bearing on postseason qualification).

Listing of the 17 honorees follows below – with short notes on each to be added; action photos of all 17 have been added at bottom of the page, with headshots in right sidebar.
