Cougars Pouring It On

Washington State has taken a 3-0 lead into halftime versus visiting Idaho, with the Cougars owning the edge in shots (11-4), shots on goal (5-1) and corner kicks (5-0). Freshman M Brandi Vega, senior F Kiersten Dallstrem (a second team all-Pac-10 performer in '08) and sophomore F Tiara Pittman have combined on the goals.

Dallstream (Fountain Hills, Ariz.) – who also assisted on Vega's goal – scored her 18th career goal exactly 30 minutes into the game, after beating her defender and the 'keeper to score from eight yards out. Less than three minutes later, Pittman (Spokane, Wash.) sent home the third goal of her young WSU career, scoring from the left side on a 12-yard shot inside the far-right post (assisted by Elysse Van Leer).

The Cougars made some noteworthy strides over the past couple seasons and appear well on their way to a convincing win in their season opener.
