CS360 CHAMPIONSHIP-WEEK PRIMETIME PERFORMER HONOREES (D-1/2/3 men & women)

College Soccer 360 has recognized an assortment of Primetime Performers who rose to the occasion during the recent championship weekends contested by men's and women's teams in Division I, II and III. The top honorees – CS360 Primetime Players of the Week – are as follows:

See links at bottom of this page for previous Primetime Performer releases (covering D-1/2/3, men and women).

Dynamic Duos 2011

As in past seasons, College Soccer 360 presents its "Dynamic Duos" feature, showcasing Division I women's teams that have multiple double-digit goalscorers. Dayton so far is the only team that has boasted three players with double-digit goals (listed below), with Stanford close to that distinction and still playing.

As of Nov. 21, there now are 16 teams (out of 300-plus) that have featured multiple double-digit goalscorers, with most earning that distinction over the past couple weeks. Eleven of those teams have competed in the 2011 NCAAs (five were eliminated in the first round, two more in the second round and another one in the round-of-16). Three teams competing on Friday in the upcoming NCAA quarterfinals – ACC foes Duke, Wake Forest and Virginia – each have a pair of double-digit goalscorers on their roster (listed below).

There also are three teams (Long Beach, Oklahoma State and Stanford) that are close to joining the Dynamic Duo list.

College Soccer 360 is excited for the launch of a new site feature – a GAMEDAY HOMEPAGE that provides convenient links (season, game-coverage and postgame) for college soccer action involving teams in the CS360 Composite National Rankings (top-50 women and top-40 men), along with key late-season coverage from other conferences and full tracking of all postseason competition.

Offerings include:

• Season links for team homepage, roster, stats, schedule, media guide, quick facts, head coach's bio, etc.

• Updated team records and series history

• Links to special features, such as recent video interviews, Q&As, profile stories, etc.

• Live game-coverage links located all in one place (live stats, video, audio, blogs, game previews & notes)

• Assortment of postgame links (recaps from both teams, final stats, video highlights & interviews, photo galleries, etc.)

• Conference links (weekly release, stats, standings, composite schedule, media guides and more)

Gameday pages will be created on a regular basis, based on the quantity of games in a given day (with preference given to the bigger matchups and head-to-head games.

Here's a rundown of results (listed below) so far this week involving D-I men's teams currently in the CS360 Composite National Rankings top-40. Of the 22 top-40 games played from Oct. 10-12, four resulted in upsets (losses by #5 Creighton, #9 Notre Dame, #27 James Madison and #34 Northern Illinois) while #8 Central Florida had to settle for a scoreless tie at Florida International (none of the CS360 top-50 women have yet to play this week, with several slated for action on Thursday, Oct. 13).

College Soccer 360 has selected an assortment of players (men and women from Divisions 1/2/3) as Primetime Performers of the Week for Oct. 3-9 (all listed below). See links bellow for full release pages for the D-I men's and women's honors (D2 and D3 pages, with photos and player info., are in production and will be linked to this page later).

Selection for the CS360 weekly awards is based on any/all of the following "primetime" criteria (i.e. not solely based on raw stats):

• For Division I teams, must have been playing in a game involving a top-50 team from the CS360 Composite National Rankings (or in a game involving a preseason conference favorite/leader), or performed at a high level in a game that is key to the team's postseason qualification/participation. For D2 and D3, must have been playing in a game involving a team that received votes in that week's NSCAA coaches poll.

• In general, preference is given based on the quality of the opponent and situational factors involved in the player's accomplishments.

There's 39 games slated for Sunday (Sept. 9, 2011) involving CS360 top-40 men's teams (12; one head-to-head) or CS360 top-50 women's squads (27; three head-to-head). Today's scheduled features one of the biggest games of any season, as the UCLA women (cs360 #2) will play at top-ranked Stanford (1 PT).

There are six men's teams idle today from the CS360 top-40 – #2 Maryland, #4 North Carolina, #14 Boston College, #24 Iona, #31 Virginia and #34 Duke – while 20 of the cs360 top-50 women's teams have Sunday off, with those idle squads including six from the top-10 and nine top-20: #3 Duke, #4 Oklahoma State, #5 Wake Forest, #6 Boston College, #7 North Carolina, #9 Virginia, #11 Florida State, #14 Pepperdine, #15 Maryland, #29 Virginia Tech, #32 Texas A&M, #36 Wisconsin, #37 Iowa, #38 Illinois, #41 Miami, #43 Baylor, #44 BYU, #46 Michigan, #47 North Carolina State and #49 Portland.

Fans will be treated to one of the top Saturdays thus far in the college soccer season, with numerous top teams set to be in action on Oct. 8. There's 15 games on tap involving CS360 top-40 men's teams, including four head-to-head showdowns (three of them in the BIG EAST: #1 Connecticut at #12 Notre Dame; #10 St. John's at #15 South Floirda; and #15 Georgetown at #39 West Virginia. There also are six games on Saturday featuring CS360 top-50 women's teams and half of them are showdown games: #5 Wake Forest at #15 Maryland; #11 Florida State at #9 Virginia; and #14 Pepperdine at #44 BYU.

It's a relative light schedule today (Oct. 7) in terms of big-game matchups involving CS360 top-40 men's teams and the top-50 women, with many key head-to-head battles taking place over the previous two days. Friday's 11 games featuring CS360 top-40 men's teams feature only one head-to-head game (#2 Maryland at #31 Virginia), while the 27 CS360 top-50 women's games on tap include only four marquee matchups – namely #2 UCLA putting its unbeaten record on the line at #19 California while the SEC divisional favorites will meet (#20 Auburn at #8 Florida) and unbeaten La Salle will play at #18 Dayton in a game that could determine the Atlantic-10 regular-season champion (the 10-0-1 Explorers have yet to allow a goal this season).

There are 19 top-50 women's teams not playing on Friday, with nine set to return to the pitch on Saturday (highlighted by #5 Wake Forest at #15 Maryland; #11 Florida State at #9 Virginia; and #14 Pepperdine at #44 BYU) and six more on Sunday. Four women's top-50 teams – #3 Duke, #6 Boston College, #7 North Carolina and #49 Portland – are done playing for the week.

There's five games on tap Thursday involving CS360 top-50 teams, most notably #3 Duke at #6 Boston College and a key WCC showdown between perennial league champion Portland (#49) at conference newcomer BYU (#44). There already have been 25 games this week featuring CS360 top-40 men's teams (plus one top-50 women's game), see lists below, and it's been rough going for several of the higher-ranked teams. In those 25 men's games, six top-40 teams were upset (#3 Akron, #6 Indiana, #19 Santa Clara, #22 Providence, #29 William & Mary and #35 Kentucky) while two others suffered "upset ties" (#10 St. John's and #16 Notre Dame). Roughly one-third of those 25 games (8) have extended to overtime, including narrow wins for #2 Maryland, #4 North Carolina, #5 Creighton, #8 UC Irvine and #32 Northern Illinois.

The first Sunday of October will be a busy one throughout Division I college soccer, with 43 games on tap involving men's top-40 men's teams and the top-50 women in the CS360 Composite National Rankings. Most of the top-40 men's squads played on Saturday, but there's still 10 top-40 games slated for Saturday along with a total of 33 women's top-50 games.

Sunday's nine head-to-head battles between CS360 top-50 women's teams include yet another top-10 showdown in the ACC (#8 Virginia at #6 Wake Forest) and a key matchup within the Big Ten: #24 Ohio State at #26 Wisconsin.

A boatload of men's top-40 men's teams in the CS360 Composite National Rankings will be in action on Saturday, with 18 games on tap including five head-to-head battles between top-40 squads. It's a big day in the BIG EAST – as CS360 #1 Connecticut will play at #9 Louisville, along with #10 Notre Dame at #16 St. John's and #39 Providence at #14 South Florida. There's also a top-10 showdown in the Big West (#8 UC Irvine at #7 UC Santa Barbara) while #12 UCF will play at #19 SMU in a matchup of top Conference USA.

Only one team from the CS360 top-50 women is scheduled to play on Saturday, as #15 Milwaukee will be doing Horizon League battle at Wright State.

There is one game scheduled for Thursday (Sept. 29) involving a CS360 top-40 men's team and 11 from the top-50 women (see list below) – highlighted by #8 Virginia at #4 Duke, #7 North Carolina at #9 Florida State and two other head-to-head battles.

There were 15 games scheduled earlier in the week involving CS360 top-40 men's teams (one was halted due to lightning and is a "no-contest"). Most of the men's results so far this week have been noteworthy (as upsets and/or head-to-head within the top-40). The recent men's upsets have included: UC Riverside 3-1 vs. #7 UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly 1-0 at #8 UC Irvine, and James Madison 2-0 vs. #20 West Virginia – plus a pair of scoreless games (#23 Georgetown at #22 Penn State; CS Bakersfield at #32 CS Fullerton) and a 1-1 final for #31 Xavier at Cincinnati.

Sunday's Division I schedule (9/18/11) features an assortment of top teams in action, with 21 games involving CS360 top-40 men's teams (four head-to-head) along with 25 games featuring CS360 top-40 women's squads (nine of them head-to-head battles). A good chunk of top teams are idle on Sunday (15 top-40 men's teams and 16 from the top-40 women). Noteworthy teams that are off on Sunday include the #3 UCLA women (plus #5 UNC) and six of the men's top-10 (#1 Maryland, #2 UConn, #4 Creighton, #5 Louisville, #6 UNC and #7 UCSB).

Friday (Sept. 9) was a good day for the favorites in games involving top teams from the CS360 Composite National Rankings, as the higher-ranked men's and women's teams combined to go 55-8-5 (.846 ... 22-3-2/.852 in top-40 men; 33-5-3/.842 in top-50 women). The eight CS360 top-40 mens teams that did not play on Friday included: #1 North Carolina, #5 Akron, #12 UCF, #18 Ohio State, #32 UMBC, #36 CS Bakerfield, #38 NC State and #40 Xavier. Three of those teams are slated to play on Saturday (Sept. 10) – Akron at St. Louis (7 CT) ... UNC at home vs. Virginia Tech (7 ET) ... and UMBC at home vs. Navy (7 ET).

The 11 CS360 top-50 women's teams that were idle on Friday were: #3 Maryland, #12 Boston College, #13 Marquette, #17 Milwaukee, #24 Ohio State, #26 William & Mary, #36 BYU, #41 West Virginia, and #42 Miami. BYU is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 10, at home vs. Rice (7 MT).

The 2011 season's first full weekend of Division I men's and women's soccer action will conclude on Sunday (Aug. 28), with an assortment of teams in action from the CS360 Composite National Rankings. There's a big slate of Sunday games involving CS360 top-50 women's teams (37 games, including seven head-to-head matchups), plus four games involving CS360 top-40 men's squads.

All but six of the CS360 women's top-50 originally were scheduled to be in action on Sunday, with the idle squads including: #14 Wake Forest, #27 Denver, #32 BYU, #35 Boston University and #42 Central Florida.

The fall preseason exhibition season saw several Division I women’s soccer teams (17) in action from the NSCAA preseason top-25 – with the higher-ranked teams combining to go 15-1-3 in their 19 exhibition games. The most noteworthy result was Connecticut knocking off regional rival Boston College (NSCAA #4), in a 2-1 game played at BC’s home facility in Newton, Mass. Three other preseason top-25 squads played to 1-1 ties against unranked teams: #7 Portland (vs. Miami), #14 Oklahoma State (at SMU) and #24 Illinois (at Missouri).

There were three head-to-head games between preseason top-25 teams, including two at #6 Maryland (as the Terps posted a 1-0 win over #13 West Virginia and then beat #23 Georgetown, 3-0). The marquee matchup was the annual preseason exhibition between Notre Dame and Virginia (which has held its preseason camp in the state of Michigan) – with the top-ranked Irish claiming a wild 7-5 win over the #10 Cavaliers.

CollegeSoccer360.com recently wrapped up covering the Division I women's soccer College Cup in Cary, N.C. ... but CS360 also would like to recognize top players from throughout Divisions I, II and III in men's and women's soccer from the past couple weeks (all listed or linked below). A final Primetime list of honorees will be released, following the Division I men's semifinals and championship game (Dec. 10 and 12, in Santa Barbara).

Lists of Primetime Performers are included below for each stage in the various 2010 men's and women's NCAA Championships. Most recently (week-16), all three divisions (for women and men) were in action during the span of Dec. 2-5. CollegeSoccer360 has recognized 17 women's players and 18 men as Primetime Performers for this blockbuster week, led by Primetime Players of the Week from each division: Notre Dame junior defender Jessica Schuveiller (Plano, TX) ... Louisville freshman forward Aaron Horton (Lewis Center, OH) ... Grand Valley State sophomore forward Ashley Botts (Beloit, WI) ... For the previous week, during the Thanksgiving break (Nov. 26-28), the Division I tournaments were in action and CS360 has recognized six women's players along with six men on the week-15 Primetime Performers of the Week – led by Stanford sophomore midfielder Maria Nogueira (Westminster, CA) and Michigan senior forward Justin Meram (Shelby Township, MI).

For games one week earlier (in mid-Nov.), CS360 has recognized week-14 Primetime Performers for women's and men's soccer covering all three divisions, with those honorees led by: Notre Dame senior forward Rose Augustine (Silver Lake, Ohio) ... Dartmouth senior goalkeeper Lyman Missimer (The Woodlands, TX) ... Florida Tech women's junior goalkeeper Mist Eliasdottir (Keflavik, Iceland) ... Rollins senior forward Chase Neinken (Atlanta, GA) ... William Smith senior forward BreLynn Nasypany (Herlimer, NY) ... and Lynchburg freshman goalkeeper Michael Releford (Blacksburg, VA).

Finally, following the opening week of the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship (Nov. 11-14), Washington senior goalkeeper Jorde LaFontaine-Kussmann (Lakewood, Wash.) led the way among the CS360 week-13 Primetime Performers.

Stanford Surges Onto Dynamic Duos List

It took a while, but the Stanford women's soccer team finally produced its "Dynamic Duo" for the 2010 season ... in fact, the Cardinal have gone one better, joining Siena as the nation's only teams with three double-digit goalscorers this season: senior forward Christen Press (26), junior midfielder Teresa Noyola (10) and junior forward Lindsay Taylor (10). Noyola and Taylor both scored their 10th goals of the season to help fuel the recent 5-0 NCAA quarterfinal rout of Florida State.

Stanford joins fellow semifinalists Notre Dame and Boston College on the list of Division I women's soccer teams with multiple double-digit goalscorers in 2010. There now are 22 teams with this rare Dynamic Duo distinction (15 of those teams qualified for the 2010 NCAA tournament). (note – research courtesy of CollegeSoccer360.com)

Here are the teams in the 2010 NCAA semifinals that feature double-digit goalscorers:
• Stanford ... Christen Press (26), Teresa Noyola (10) and Lindsay Taylor (10)

Four teams in the country have produced multiple players with 12-plus goals: Florida, Boston University, Hofstra and Virginia. North Carolina nearly had three double-digitgoalscorers (Kealia Ohai 14, Courtney Jones 11, Crystal Dunn 9).

Three teams in the round-of-16 were close to joining the Dynamic Duos list, but came up short: Georgetown (Camille Trujillo 13, Ingrid Wells 9) ... UC Irvine (Tanya Taylor 11, CoCo Goodson 9) .... and Duke (Laura Weinberg 10, Mollie Pathman 8).

In addition to the teams mentioned above, there were six other NCAA participants with a pair of double-digit goalscorers: South Florida, St. Francis (PA), Texas A&M, UNC Greensboro, Central Florida and Maryland. Seven teams that did not qualify for the 2010 NCAAs – most notably bubble teams Denver and Nebraska – finished their seasons with two double-digit goalscorers.

CollegeSoccer360.com again has compiled freshman statistical leaders, highlighting the top rookies for the 2010 season (based on official NCAA statistical leaders; note that the stats for two players in the NCAA listing did not match the numbers on the team pages – with the stats from the team sites included below).

Kealia Ohai (North Carolina)

North Carolina boasts one of the top 1-2 punches among freshman scorers, as Kealia Ohai (14G-9A) is on the verge of becoming the nation's first freshman with double-digit goals and assists while fellow freshman forward Crystal Dunn (8G-8A) has been pouring in points over the past few weeks, after converting from an early-season role in the Tar Heels' starting defense.

There are four freshmen in the country with 8-plus goals and 8-plus assists (as of 11/18/10): Ohai, Dunn, South Florida's Venicia Reid (11G-9A) and Georgia State's Jewel Evans (8G-8A).

In addition to UNC's Ohai and Dunn (plus Kelly McFarlane, who had a 3-assist game vs. Missouri), a handful of other players on these lists are members of teams preparing to compete in the upcoming NCAA round-of-16: Duke forward Laura Weinberg and the impressive goalkeeping trio of Stanford's Emily Oliver, Ohio State's Rachel Middleman and Florida State's Kelsey Wys.

Some of the individuals on this page (such as Wys) are sophomores academically (i.e. "redshirt freshmen") and will be noted as so in later updates.

These listings will be updated throughout the rest of the season (including the addition of some more headshots and action photos).

Note – The NCAA ranks offensive players during the season based on per-game stats while these listings by CS360 simply rank the raw totals (for points, goals and assists). The NCAA also requires a minimum of 75% of the team's games played for the offensive leaders. Due to these two factors, it's possible that a few players are missing from this list ... feel free to forward that information to CS360 (editor@collegesoccer360.com) and we will add them to the listing.

In all the listings below, players in bold are from teams that qualified for the 2010 NCAA Championship (bold italics = team in upcoming NCAA round-of-16).

Four "Dynamic Duos" To Be Featured In NCAA Round-of-16

Four of the 16 teams still remaining in the 2010 Division I Women's Soccer Championship – North Carolina, Virginia, Notre Dame and Boston College – feature a pair of double-digit goalscorers leading the way for their potent offenses. Two of those "Dynamic Duos" will be on display in the same game this weekend, when ND resumes its rivalry with UNC on Saturday at Fetzer Field (Nov. 20; 5 ET).

There now are 21 teams with this rare Dynamic Duo distinction, as ND, BC and Maryland joined this exclusive list following Sunday's second-round NCAA games. The 21 teams include 14 that qualified for the 2010 NCAA tournament.

Here are the four teams in the NCAA round-of-16 that feature double-digit goalscorers:
• North Carolina ... Kealia Ohai (14) and Courtney Jones (12)

Washington 'Keeper LaFontaine-Kussmann Named CS360 National Primetime Player of the Week

University of Washington senior goalkeeper Jorde LaFontaine-Kussmann (Lakewood, Wash.) has been named the CS360 National Primetime Player of the Week for Division I women's soccer, as selected by CollegeSoccer360.com for the week featuring NCAA first- and second-round games (Nov. 11-14). LaFontaine-Kussmann – who played her first two seasons at the University of California (2007-08) and has one season of eligibility remaining after 2010 – is joined by 12 other players in comprising the most recent CS360 Primetime Performers of the Week (see full list below), the 13th group of honorees for the 2010 season.

In the first round of the NCAA Championship (at Portland), the UW 'keeper made five saves while shutting out a surging Oklahoma team that nearly won the Big 12 tournament (edged in PKs). Two days later, after the 4-0 win over OU, LaFontaine-Kussmann rose to the challenge versus the host Pilots – racking up 13 saves in regulation and overtime, as the Huskies pushed one of the nation's four #1 seeds into a penalty-kick shootout (Portland scored in the 28th minute but was blanked for the final 82 minutes of game time).

During the decisive shootout, LaFontaine-Kussmann saved Portland's second try (by Keelin Winters) – but a miss by one of her UW teammates in the fourth round led to a 4-4 PK score through the minimum five kicks. The drama progressed to sudden-death PK rounds and LaFontaine-Kussmann even took her turn witch a kick, converting in the 9th round as the teams traded successful PKs from the 5th through 10th rounds.

The Huskies then converted for the seventh straight round, when the order reset and Kate Deines sent home her PK for the second time in the marathon shootout. Portland's initial first shooter, Jessica Tsao, returned to the PK spot and tried to become the seventh straight Pilots player to convert with the game on the line – but LaFontaine-Kussmann dove to her right for the save that sent Washington to the NCAA round-of-16 for the first time since 2004.

A&M and UNCG Join Dynamic Duos List

Following Friday's opening games in the NCAA tournament, Texas A&M and UNC Greensboro have joined the list of Division I women's soccer teams with multiple double-digit goalscorers. There now are 18 teams with this rare distinction, including 11 that earned bids in the NCAAs – six of them still alive (Florida, UNC, Hofstra, South Florida, Virginia and A&M).

NCAA TOURNAMENT TEAM STREAKS – Each of the teams with the 15-longest active NCAA appearance streaks advanced to the national postseason again this season (see list below), halting the trend of disappointment from the past two seasons ...

The previous season (2009) wasn't a good year for teams that featured orange as one of their primary colors, as three different programs – Tennessee (8; 2001-08), Texas (8: '01-'08) and Illinois (6; '03-'08) – saw an end to their NCAA Tournament streaks in 2009 that had extended back six or more years. In addition to Texas, another Big 12 Conference team saw its noteworthy streak come to an end in 2009, as Colorado had appeared in each of the previous six NCAA Tournaments (2003-08). Texas and Illinois have returned to the NCAAs in 2010.

Two years back in 2008, three teams with some of the longest NCAA Tournament appearance streaks in the history of Division I women's soccer – Connecticut (26; 1982-2007), Santa Clara (19; 1989-2007) and Clemson (14; 1994-2007) – had the rare experience of missing the NCAAs, with Clemson (another one of those orange teams) failing to make the NCAA field again in 2009 and '10 (UConn and SCU have been NCAA entrants in '09 and '10).

There are 11 different teams – North Carolina (29), Notre Dame (18), Virginia (17), Texas A&M (16), Penn State (16), Wake Forest (15), UCLA (14), Stanford (13), Florida State (11), Portland (11) and West Virginia (11) – that own acive double-digit NCAA appearance streaks:

Siena First Team with Three Double-Digit Goalscorers (Dynamic Duos update)

Nine teams in the 2010 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship field boast teammates with double-digit goals – and Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference entrant Siena represents the only team with more than two double-digit goalscorers (Tabitha Tice, Ashleigh Barone and Brittany Pfaff each have 10 goals).

The eight NCAA participants with a pair of double-digit goalscorers include Boston Univ., North Carolina, Florida, Hofsta, South Florida, St. Francis (PA), Virginia and Central Florida. Seven teams that did not qualify for the 2010 NCAAs – most notably bubble teams Denver and Nebraska – finished the season with two double-digit goalscorers.

Penn State junior midfielder Ali Schafer's hustling goal (pictured) in the closing seconds of overtime (109:43) gave Penn State a dramatic 1-0 win over Michigan – delivering a share of the Big Ten title and helping PSU overcome a slow start to its season to earn an at-large spot in the NCAAs. It was Schaefer's first goal of the season and second of her career.

Kit is joined by 15 other players in comprising the most recent CS360 Primetime Performers of the Week (see full list below), the 11th group of honorees for the 2010 season.

Kit delivered the game's only goal in the showdown at #19 South Carolina that was a head-to-head matchup to decide the Southeastern Conference regular-season title. With the first half about to tick away, the leftooted Kit struck a free kick from just outside the upper-right corner of the penalty area – with the perfectly-struck ball glancing high off the near-right post and carrying into the net for a goal at 44:58. On the other end of the field – while dealing with a spirited Senior Day crowd of 2,500-plus at SC's Stone Stadium – Kit helped limit South Carolina to seven total shots (only one on goal).

The big-game win helped keep Florida on track to be in contention for one of the top-10 seeds (or higher) in the upcoming NCAA Championship tournament.

There are plenty of key games on tap around the country on Halloween Day – with 22 games involving top-50 teams in the CS360 Composite National Rankings and 17 conference tournament games (seven of them involving top-50 squads). Scroll down to the bottom of this blog post for the full schedule of Sunday's big games, plus a complete rundown of key results from earlier in the week (all of those games/results also are on the right-sidebar scoreboard).

Six of Sunday's game feature head-to-head matchups between CS360 top-50 teams, led by #9 Florida State at #10 Boston College (1 ET) – with FSU joining UNC, Maryland and Virginia as the four teams that still could win the ACC regular-season title (on the final day!). Elsewhere in the ACC, #3 North Carolina will be looking to secure the ACC title with a win at #25 Wake Forest.

The six conference tournaments in action on Halloween day include the America East, BIG EAST, Horizon, Mid-American, Missouri Valley and Southern.

There are 21 teams in the CS360 top-50 that are idle on Sunday: #1 Stanford, #7 Texas A&M, #8 Florida, #13 Oklahoma State, #17 South Carolina, #18 Hofstra, #21 BYU, #22 New Mexico, #24 Duke, #27 Denver, #28 Texas, #30 Central Florida, #31 Wisconsin, #35 Georgia, #36 Minnesota, #37 Dayton, #38 Memphis, #39 Auburn, #41 California, #42 Nebraska and #48 San Diego.

Here's a look at what's at stake today in various conferences:

ATLANTIC COAST – North Carolina (7-2-0; 21 pts) can clinch the ACC regular-season title and #1 seed through various four-team combinations today (including with a loss at Wake Forest, as long as the other three teams lose or tie) ... those teams tied for second (6-2-1; 19) include Maryland, Virginia and Florida State ... head-to-head results: UNC beat UVa and FSU but lost to Maryland; Maryland beat UVa and FSU; UVa and FSU tied earlier this season ... if Wake Forest (5-3-1; 16) upsets UNC, the 5th-place Demon Deacons could move up the standings ... Boston College (5-4-0; 15) and Duke (4-5-1; 12) also have locked up spots in the ACC Tournament (although idle Duke could slip to the #8 seed) ... Miami (4-5-0; 12) or Virginia Tech (3-5-1; 10) will be the final entrant in the ACC postseason ... if there's a three-way tie for 7th-place (Duke, Miami, VT), then Miami would be the #7 seed (beat Duke and VT) and Duke the #8 (beat VT) ... to make the ACC Tournament, Virginia Tech needs to beat N.C. State (1-7-0) today and hope for a Maryland win over Miami.

BIG EAST – Notre Dame enters the day #7 in the national RPI (per www.nc-soccer.com's updated unadjusted RPI), meaning that the Irish likely need to advance in order to feel comfortable about being one of the top-8 national seeds (which ensures a potential hosting spot in the NCAA round-of-16) ... Marquette sits at #12 in the updated RPI and is focusing on locking up one of the #1 seeds in the NCAAs (top-16) ... Georgetown (#16 RPI) would appear to be on the bubble for a #1 seed (and potential hosting role on first weekend of NCAAs) ... West Virginia (#21) seemingly could make a run to one of those seeds but likely would need to win the BIG EAST Tournament to be among the top-16 NCAA entrants ... further down the RPI list, South Florida (#46) and Connecticut (#49) have to be considered squarely on the bubble and will remain there if they lose today (#67 Rutgers and #82 DePaul likely need to win the BIG EAST Tournament to make the NCAAs) ... other bubble teams from around the country simply are rooting for the BIG EAST home teams to advance today – to avoid the risk of an upset tournament winner stealing one of the at-large spots (while also lessing USF and UConn's chances to make the NCAAs as at-large entries).

AMERICA EAST – Boston U. has fashioned a solid season, but the Terriers currently sit at #45 in the latest nc-soccer.com's number and realistically can't afford a loss or tie today vs. an Albany team that is #218 in that same RPI listing ... the other semifinal features two teams with RPI numbers north of 200 (#219 Stony Brook and #237 Maine) ... bubble teams from around the country probably need to root for BU winning the tournament, just to be on the safe side (in case BU still would earn an at-large bid).

HORIZON – Loyola Chicago has some recent NCAA Tournament experience but has struggled this season (#196 updated RPI) while Wright State has been on a roll but does not have a realistic shot at an NCAA at-large spot (#88 RPI) ... Milwaukee (#57 RPI) and Butler (#195) have byes, while #6 seed Detroit (RPI-155) advanced yesterday with a 2-1 win at #3 seed Cleveland State ... bubble-watchers may want to root for a Milwaukee tournament title, to avoid the unlikely chance that the Horizon could get two teams into the NCAAs.

MID-AMERICAN – Toledo looked to be in solid shape for an NCAA at-large spot, before losing earlier this week at Ball State (which had been winless in MAC play) ... the Rockets still have a #39 updated RPI, but a loss to Ohio (#199 RPI) could put Toledo's NCAA hopes in serious doubt ... Central Michigan (#71 RPI) tied Toledo for the regular-season title but likely needs to win the MAC Tournament to punch its ticket to the NCAAs ... the other remaining MAC teams likewise need to win the conference tournament in order to advance to the NCAAs: Eastern Michigan (#128 RPI), Miami (#138), Western Michigan (#153), Northern Illinois (#164) and Akron (#172) .... the MAC likely is a one-bid league, but bubble teams from around the nation still should be rooting for a Toledo title.

MISSOURI VALLEY – All four of the teams playing today have lofty RPI numbers (#106 Drake, #139 Illinois State, #224 Indiana State and #257 Evansville) ... no bubble anxiety here, as the MVC clearly is a one-bid league – as the bye teams Creighton (#91 RPI) and Missouri State (#120) are nowhere near at-large consideration.

SOUTHERN – Bubble teams from around the country simply will be rooting for UNC Greensboro to win this tournament, as the Spartans own a #23 updated RPI ... UNCG would appear to be playing for a #2 seed on the first weekend of the NCAAs (top-32 teams) and would not help its case with a loss today ... here's the updated RPI of the other remaining SoCon teams: #80 Samford, #114 Citadel, #137 Elon, #158 College of Charleston, #165 Davidson, #174 Furman and #251 Wofford.

With Division I women's soccer easing into conference tournament play, there's a significantly lower number of Friday games on tap for Oct. 29 – with 17 games on tap involving top-50 teams in the CS360 Composite National Rankings (22 total teams in action). Friday's five marquee matchups (top-50 head-to-head) include #8 Florida at #17 South Carolina to decide the SEC regular-season title (7 ET), and #7 Texas A&M and #28 Texas in a classic Big 12 rivalry game.

Maryland Win at UNC Yielded Several Rarities

Maryland's recent 2-1 comeback win at North Carolina (Oct. 24, 2010) – led by Sade Ayinde's pair of goals in the final 23 minutes – was noteworthy on several levels:

• Maryland became the fourth team (along with Notre Dame, Duke and Florida State) ever to post two or more "non-losses" vs. UNC at Fetzer Field (also a 1-1 tie on 11/1/02).
• It was the second time this season (but had not happened previously since '99) that a team came from behind to beat UNC at Fetzer.

• It was only the 10th home loss for UNC ever at Fetzer Field (in 29 varsity seasons).

• Maryland became the 13th team ever with two or more "non-losses" vs. UNC (1-31-1).

• The Terps now are one of only 21 teams ever to beat UNC (31 all-time losses).

RARE WIN AT FETZER – Earlier in the 2010 season, two teams – Texas A&M (3-0 loss on Aug. 20; series now 1-13-0) and Stanford (2-2 tie on Aug. 27; series now 0-8-3) – had the chance to improve on their modest all-time records vs. North Carolina, which has enjoyed sustained dominance over the past three decades (particularly at home) ... then, in a span of 31 days, the Tar Heels suffered a pair of home losses (2-3 vs. Boston College; 9/24/10 ... 2-1 vs. Maryland, 10/24/10) at Fetzer Field ... consider the following:

• It marked only the second time that UNC has lost twice at home in the same season (since '82) and the closest back-to-back home losses in the program's history ... the 2007 UNC team lost at home vs. South Carolina on 9/1/07 and lost at Fetzer again, but much later in the season, 11/24/07 in a 3-2 NCAA round-of-16 game vs. Notre Dame.

A blockbuster Thursday is on tap in Division I women's soccer, as the Oct. 21 slate includes the biggest and best collection of games all season not played on the weekend (Fri.-Sun.). Here's a quick rundown of key games in Division I women's soccer for Friday, Oct. 15. These games include any team currently listed in the top-50 of the CS360 Composite National Rankings.

There are 30 games on Friday involving 35 CS360 top-50 teams, highlighted by five head-to-head showdowns – most notably #29 Washington at #31 California (1:30 PT), #34 Georgia at #13 South Carolina (7 ET) and #33 Wisconsin at #15 Ohio State (7:30 ET). In each of the five top-50 showdowns, at least one of the teams is ranked in the high 20s or lower (in other words, there are no top-25 matchups on Friday's slate).

Irvine's Tanya Taylor Named CS360 Primetime Player of the Week

UC Irvine senior forward Tanya Taylor (Buena Park, Calif.) – who played a lead road during the past week in a pair of road wins vs. two of the Big West's top teams – has been named the CS360 Primetime Player of the Week for Division I women's soccer, as selected by CollegeSoccer360.com (for the week of Oct. 4-10). Taylor is joined by 13 other players in comprising the week-8 CS360 Primetime Performers of the Week (see list below).

Taylor's drop pass led directly to the first goal in a 3-0 win at Cal Poly (picked to finish second in the Big West) and she then scored her ninth goal of the season minutes later, giving UCI a 2-0 cushion only six minutes into the key road test. Two days later, Taylor beat her defender in the final minute of overtime (110') and slid a tailor-made pass to Alexis Rafael for a 1-0 win at Big Wes favorite (and defending champ) UC Santa Barbara.

Florida State sophomore goalkeeper Kelsey Wys (Coral Springs, Fla.) has been named the Primetime Player of the Week for Division I women's soccer, as selected by CollegeSoccer360.com (for games during Sept. 27-Oct. 3). She is joined by 14 other players in comprising the CS360 week-7 Primetime Performers of the Week (full list at bottom of this release).

Wys – who has three years of eligibility remaining after the 2010 season (she took a redshirt season in '09) – had an impressive weekend while facing two key rivals in the Atlantic Coast Conference: a 1-0 overtime win over Wake Forest and a 3-1 victory over Duke (WFU was #25 in the CS360 Composite National Rankings, while Duke was #22). Wys totaled 18 saves spanning the two games, while the only goal she allowed came on an unfortunate own-goal early in the Duke game (Wys then closed that game by stopping 14 consecutive shots-on-goal, with FSU not stretching to 3-1 until the 70th minute).

The strong season-long play of Wys (0.63 goals-against avg.; .881 save pct.) has helped Florida State overcame the preseason loss to injury of star forwards Jessica Price and Tiffany McCarty – who easily comprised the top returning offensive duo in the nation (they each had 16-plus goals in 2009 ... Selection for the CS360 weekly awards is based on any/all of the following "primetime" criteria (i.e. not solely based on raw stats):
• In general, preference is given based on the quality of the opponent and situational factors involved in the player's accomplishments.

• Must have been playing in a game involving a top-50 team from the CS360 Composite National Rankings (or a preseason conference favorite), or performed at a high level in a game that is key to the team's postseason qualification.

• Involved in clutch performances, such as gamewinning goals, noteworthy comebacks, late scores, team leadership, etc.

• Overcame adversity or extreme circumstances (for the team and/or individual).

• Bonus consideration is given for key performances away from team's home field.

When Boston College won 3-2 last night at North Carolina (Sept. 24, 2010), history was made on several levels. Most notably, BC handed UNC only its ninth home loss ever at Fetzer Field while the Eagles became the 11th team ever to score three goals in a game against the Tar Heels (UNC never has allowed four goals).

Boston College junior Alaina Beyar pushed forward to score on a strong shot from the top of the box, forging a 2-2 game midway through the second half at North Carolina (BC went on to win, 3-2, handing the Tar Heels their ninth home loss over the past 29 seasons).

RARE WIN AT FETZER – Earlier in the 2010 season, two teams – Texas A&M (3-0 loss on Aug. 20; series now 1-13-0) and Stanford (2-2 tie on Aug. 27; series now 0-8-3) – had the chance to improve on their modest all-time records vs. North Carolina, which has enjoyed sustained dominance over the past three decades (particularly at home) ... last night (Sept. 24, 2010), Boston College did what A&M and Stanford were unable to do this season: beat UNC on its home turf, Fetzer Field ... consider the following:

• The Eagles became only the 20th different team ever to beat UNC (regardless of site), in 29 NCAA-sanctioned seasons ... it was only the 30th all-time loss for UNC in those 29 seasons (673-30-23/.943; as of 9/24/10).

• UNC now has lost only nine times at home (288-9-7/.959; in 29 NCAA-sanctioned seasons, since '82), as of 9/24/10 ... BC's 3-2 win at UNC marked only the 16th time in those 29 seasons (roughly once every two years) that UNC has suffered a loss/tie at home.

Colorado College junior goalkeeper Caitlyn Hulyo (Lititz, Pa.) – fresh off a 12-save performance in CC's scoreless tie vs. Oklahoma State (#16 in the cs360 composite national rankings) – has been named the CS360 Primetime Player of the Week for Division I women's soccer, as selected by CollegeSoccer360.com (for the week of Sept. 13-19).

Hulyo is joined by 11 other players (listed below) from across the nation, in comprising the week-5 Primetime Performers of the Week. Versatile veteran Lauren Fowlkes (left) – who earned the rare double-honor as an All-American and Academic All-American in 2009 – is part of a Notre Dame senior class that has compiled a 70-10-3 record over the past four seasons

The Notre Dame seniors picked up their 70th career win on Sunday, Sept. 5 (2-0 vs. Texas Tech), one week after the UNC seniors had reached the 70-win mark. The Irish advanced to the NCAA College Cup semifinals (or title game) in each of the past three seasons, while going 19-5-2 in 2007, 26-1-0 in '08 (NCAA runner-up) and 21-4-1 in '09. With a strong regular season and deep postseason run, the current ND seniors could reach 90 career wins, something accomplished by only 20 seniors classes in the previous 28 season of D-I women's soccer.

Six players have been members of the Notre Dame program in each of the past four seasons, led by the versatile talent Lauren Fowlkes (Lee's Summit, Ohio), current team scoring leader Rose Augustin (Silver Lake, Ohio) and four-year starting outside back Julie Scheidler (Indianapolis, Ind.).

Fowlkes – who earned the rare double-honor of being an All-American and Academic All-American, in 2009 – has split time during her Irish career at center back and forward, in addition to making some starts in the midfield. She missed severa games during ND's 2009 season (due to the Under-20 World Championships), but has logged 74 career games with 61 starts (13 goals, 5 assists).

CollegeSoccer360.com's exclusive tracking of the winningest senior classes/4-year records in Division I women's soccer has been updated, through games played as of Sept. 2. The top-5 programs remains the same – North Carolina (70-8-5), Notre Dame (68-10-3), UCLA (65-7-5), Stanford (64-6-8) and Portland (63-8-0) – but the Pilots seniors now own the top career winning pct. (.887; despite being 5th in total wins from '07-'10), thanks to UCLA's loss against Northwestern (the Bruins now have an .877 win pct. over the past four seasons).

BYU (57-14-4) is a program that steadily has moved up this list, currently tied for 6th with Florida State. The Cougars won 17-plus games in each of the past three seasons (17-4-2, 18-6-0, 18-4-2 from '07-'09) and are off to a 4-0-0 start in 2010.

There are five BYU players who have been members of the program in each of the past four seasons. Most notably, forward/midfielder Kassidy Shumway has played in 74 of the team's 75 games from 2007-10 while defender Nicole Gilliam likewise has been a four-year regular (59 GP). Here's a quick look at BYU's five current seniors:

Six-foot offensive talent who has scored key goals throughout her four seasons, as nearly 75% of her career goals at BU (17-of-23) have been gamewinners (GWGs by season: 4-6-5-2, from '07-'10) ... her 59 career points (23G-13A; 74 GP/54 starts) include 7G-2A as a freshman, 6G-4A in 2008, 7G-4A as a junior and 3G-3A this season ... has earned all-Mountain West Conference honors throughout her career (1st team in 2007 and '09; 2nd team in '08).

NICOLE GILLIAM (D ... Draper, Utah)
Four-year regular on the back line who has appeared in 59 career games at BYU, with 30 starts ... member of BYU defense that has allowed only 46 goals spanning the past four seasons (75 games) ... had 1G-2A as a freshman ... product of Alta High School program that was ranked #2 in the nation during her senior season (2006).

When Stanford played at North Carolina a few days ago (Aug. 27), it marked the earliest rematch of the previous season's Division I women's soccer NCAA title game in the nearly three decades of D-I women's soccer play (since '82) ... Stanford gained some measure of redemption by playing UNC to a 2-2 tie, roughly nine months after dropping a hard-fought, 1-0 championship game vs. the Tar Heels to cap the 2009 season.

CollegeSoccer360 has crunched the historical numbers for such title-game rematch games, with notes following below (the bottom of this release includes a complete listing of the title games/rematches):

• There had been 10 previous rematches of title games in the ensuing regular season – and Stanford did what only three of the previous 10 teams had managed to do (avenge the title-game loss in a regular-season win/tie) ... following Stanford's 2-2 game at UNC, the defending champion now is 7-2-2 in a title-game rematch during the following regular season ... George Mason beat North Carolina in the 1985 title game, but UNC then won the rematch vs. GMU early in the 1986 regular season (4-2, at GMU; 9/21/86) ... the defending champ then won the next four regular-season rematches, before Notre Dame played to a 2-2 game vs. visiting North Carolina on Sept. 19, 1997 (at ND ... Senior Salute: First Look at Top Teams Over Past Four Seasons

Another exclusive feature from CollegeSoccer360.com has returned for the 2010 season: the Senior Salute listing of the Division I women's soccer programs with the most combined victories spanning the past four seasons.

North Carolina (69-8-4, from 2007-10) and Notre Dame (68-10-3) remain at the top of this list, followed by the Pac-10 duo of UCLA (64-6-5) and Stanford (63-6-7), along with fellow west-coast team Portland (61-8-0). As shown below, UCLA (the only team riding three straight 20-win seasons) actually has the top win pct. over the past four seasons (.887), followed by Portland (.884) and then UNC (.877).

Senior midfielder Kylie Wright (left) has appeared in 69 of 75 games (68 starts) during her UCLA career, helping the Bruins compile the nation's best win pct. (.887; 64-6-5) during that four-year span.

Dayton (46-1-1) – coming off a 16-1-6 season – is the most noteworthy program now on this four-year list that was not on the similar listing one year ago (included 30-35 teams, for the '06-'09 timeframe).

Boston College junior goalkeeper Jillian Mastroianni headlines the first group of Primetime Performers for the 2010 Division I women's soccer season, as presented by CollegeSoccer360.com. Mastroianni – whose 10 saves in the 1-1 tie vs. #2 Stanford included several game-changing plays – is joined by 12 other players from around the country, in comprising the first group of 2010 honorees for the CS360 Primetime Performers of the Week (full list below).

There have been at least 10 exhibition games (by CS360's count) from Aug. 7-10, with the more noteworthy games including: Indiana's 3-1 win at West Virginia ... South Florida's 2-1 win at Miami ... and Milwaukee's scoreless tie at Creighton.

Other exhibition scrimmages from Aug. 7-10 have included: at Wright State 2, IPFW 1 ... at Illinois 4, Indiana State 1 ... at Michigan 2, Akron 1 ... Heading into the 2009 NCAA quarterfinals (as of Nov. 26), there still are only 12 Division I women's soccer teams that have multiple double-digit goalscorers, with Portland being the only program that currently boasts three or more players (4) who have 10-plus goals. Nine of the teams with multiple double-digit goalscorers qualified for the NCAAs, including six of the eight quarterfinalists that will play over the next couple of days: Stanford, UCLA, Portland, Florida State, Wake Forest and Notre Dame (plus three teams that have been eliminated form the NCAAs – Penn State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff and LSU – along with NCAA non-qualifiers Charlotte, Central Connecticut and Middle Tennessee).
