NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship Titles (1982-2010)
20 – North Carolina (1982-84, 1986-94, 1996-97, 1999-2000, 2003, 2006, 2008, 2009)

Notes: The 2011 NCAAs were the first time since 1995 (when UNC & GMU were the only former champs) that there were not multiple former champions in the NCAA round-of-16 ... George Mason and USC did not make the 2011 NCAA field while Notre Dame and Santa Clara were eliminated in the first round, then UCLA, Florida and Portland bowed out in the second round (leaving UNC as the only former champion in the 2011 rd-of-16) ... 2011 is the first time UNC and ND did not reach the quarterfinals (final-8) in same season ... in the 26 years since GMU won the 1985 titles, there have been only six seasons without multiple former champs in the round-of-16: 1987, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1995 and now 2011.
