Nov. 15, 2010

CollegeSoccer360.com's exclusive tracking of the winningest senior classes/4-year records in Division I women's soccer has been updated, through games played as of Nov. 14 (prior to the NCAA round-of-16). North Carolina (86-10-6) has maintained its separation on upcoming opponent Notre Dame (83-12-5), followed by a hard-charging Stanford squad (82-6-8) that has lost only once during the past two seasons (in the '09 NCAA title game).

It's still conceivable/possible that the Cardinal could tie UNC for having the top senior class/most combined wins for 2007-10. Stanford's .896 win pct. from '07-'10  leads fellow west-coast power Portland (.888) as the best in all of Division I women's soccer. See below for complete list of the 40-plus programs with the most victories over the past four seasons.

West Virginia – following its pair of wins in the opening weekend of the NCAA Championship (vs. Morehead St. and Penn St.) – reached the 60-win plateau for the past four seasons (60-19-5), making WVU one of 18 teams in Division I women's soccer with 60-plus wins from 2007-10. Boston College is one win shy of 60 wins spanning the past four seasons while Florida State is one victory away from the 70-win plateau for 2007-10.

Nov. 8 Update

CollegeSoccer360.com's exclusive tracking of the winningest senior classes/4-year records in Division I women's soccer has been updated, through games played as of Nov. 7 (prior to the NCAAs). North Carolina (84-10-6) has gained some separation on Notre Dame (81-12-5), followed by a hard-charging Stanford squad (80-6-8) that has lost only once during the past two seasons (in the '09 NCAA title game).

Should UNC stumble early in the NCAAs and Stanford keep winning – it's conceivable/possible that the Cadinal could end up having the top senior class/most combined wins for 2007-10. Stanford's .894 win pct. from '07-'10 now narrowly leads fellow west-coast power Portland (.891) as the best in all of Division I women's soccer. See below for complete list of the 40-plus programs with the most victories over the past four seasons.

Florida Seniors 2010 Florida seniors (from left) Katie Fraine, Nicky Kit and Ashlee Elliott with the 2010 SEC regular-seaon championship trophy.

Florida's win over South Carolina (1-0) in the Southeastern Conference tournment final made the Gators the sixth D-I women's soccer program with 70-plus wins over the past four seasons (70-17-8; seniors Ashlee Elliot, Katie Fraine and Nicky Kit) – joining UNC, ND, Stanford, Portland and UCLA in that distinction (BYU is 69-17-6). Three other teams – Dayton, Central Florida and Southern California – recently reached the 60-win plateau for the 2007-10 span  (the senior classes for West Virginia and South Carolina both are two shy of 60 career wins).

Oct. 24 update

CollegeSoccer360.com's exclusive tracking of the winningest senior classes/4-year records in Division I women's soccer has been updated, through games played as of Oct. 24. The top-2 programs – North Carolina (81-10-5) and Notre Dame (81-11-5) – still have identical four-year win totals, while Stanford (77-6-8) and fellow west-coast power Portland (76-9-0) continue to jockey for third place. The Portland seniors still own the top career winning pct. (.894) among current senior classes. See below for complete list of the 40-plus programs with the most victories over the past four seasons.

Several teams on this list already have held their "Senior Days" (photos from Senior Day ceremonies are being added via the link above), with plenty more seniors set to play their final regular-season home games over the next couple weeks.

The senior classes for Memphis (1-0 vs. Rice; 10/22) and UNC Greensboro (1-0 at Appalachian St.; 1/10/24) recently reached the 60-career-wins plateau, joining 12 other teams in that distinction. Three other teams – Dayton, Central Florida and South Carolina – all are two wins shy of totaling 60 victories over the past four seasons.

Here's the complete updated list of the nation's winningest senior classes, as of games played through Oct. 24, 2010 (note: when referencing lists on this page, please credit CollegeSoccer360.com with the research and – if possible – provide a link to this blog post ... if currently in the CS360 blog stream, click on post headline above for the direct URL).

Oct. 17 Update ...

CollegeSoccer360.com's exclusive tracking of the winningest senior classes/4-year records in Division I women's soccer has been updated, through games played as of Oct. 17. The top-2 programs – North Carolina (80-9-5) and Notre Dame (80-11-4) –now have identical four-year win totals, while Stanford (75-6-8) and fellow west-coast power Portland (74-9-0) continue to jockey for third place. The Portland seniors still own the top career winning pct. (.892) among current senior classes. See bottom of this release for complete list of the 40-plus programs with the most victories over the past four seasons.

Five teams on this list – Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Dayton, UTEP and Furman – already have held their "Senior Days" (photos to be added via the link above), while UNC Greensboro's final regular-season home game is a couple days away (Oct. 21), followed by Milwaukee's on Oct. 22, two noteworthy Senior Days on Oct. 23 (BYU and Charlotte) and plenty more on Sunday, Oct. 24 (UNC, Florida St., Florida, Texas A&M, Toledo, Minnesota, West Virginia, North Texas, Georgia, Boston U., Western Kentucky, Georgetown and Marquette).
